Project Brief
Competitive Research
My first step was to conduct a basic competitive research to familiarize myself with the language learning apps that are already out there. By paying close attention to these apps, I learned about what already exists and started to see how I would like to enhance the user's learning experience in the app I'm planning to design.
User Research
In order to better understand the user needs and pain points, I conducted remote interviews via Zoom with four participants. This part of the process was greatly beneficial for me to learn from the users themselves about their needs and behaviors.
Persona
After collecting all the data from the interviews, I then put together my key findings into one persona. Meet Erin....
User Flow
Based on the user and competitive research I conducted, I could then put together two user flows on which I'll be able to base my wireframes for future user testings.
Usability Testing
With user flows in hand, I started sketching wireframes. After completing all the necessary screens, I created a low fidelity clickable prototype and crafted a Usability test plan. I then conducted four usability tests; three remotely and one in-person, which all allowed me to observe the user's behaviors and responses closely and carefully.
Usability Test Report
In order to make sense of all the data I gathered from the usability tests, I organized my observations and recommendations to be easily understood.
Improvements
Based on my usability test reports, I got to work on fixing all those things I missed in my first iteration of the prototype.
Conclusions
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my case study.
LANGO was the first UX project I was assigned in my studies at CareerFoundry.
I truly enjoyed working on this app; interviewing potential users, creating personas,
sketching wireframes and continuously improving iterations based on user feedback.
Working on this project made me understand first hand what UX design actually entails,
and I must say that I loved every minute of it.
